NASA Begins One Year Isolation Experiment to Prepare for Journey to Mars

Six people will live inside the HI-SEAS habitat dome, which is 36 feet (11 meters) in diameter and 20 feet ( meters) tall, for one year. The experiment is taking place in Hawaii, on the northern slope of Mauna Loa. The participants are a French astrobiologist, a German physicist, and four Americans: a pilot, an architect, a doctor/journalist, and a soil scientist.
