About BRi

An institute in name.
A standard in practice.

Biomechanical Research Institute, LLC was founded on a simple conviction: that the most persuasive expert is the one with the best data — collected firsthand, analyzed rigorously, and stated without fear or favor.

Our Beginning

Founded 1998. Still founder-led.

BRi was established in March 1998 by Adelino Yung, P.E. — and nearly three decades later, the firm's principal still personally directs its research, its analyses, and its testimony — no opinion signed but not studied.

From inception, BRi has employed only the highest-caliber degreed and licensed professional engineers and highly trained specialists as lead engineers and analysts — professionals experienced across biomedical, biomechanical, civil, and traffic engineering, and accident reconstruction.

Philosophy

What we offer — and what we refuse.

We quantify, not speculate

Every conclusion is expressed in numbers, documented in method, and reproducible by a competent peer. If it cannot be measured, we say so.

We research before we opine

BRi maintains continually updated research materials, sophisticated mathematical models, and precision digital instrumentation — the library and the lab precede the letter.

We serve the analysis, not the side

Our opinions follow the evidence wherever it leads. That is precisely why they survive cross-examination: they were never for sale.

We teach, not just testify

Reports and testimony are written to be understood — by judges, juries, and counsel — because clarity is the engine of persuasion.

Milestones

A short history of a long practice.

1998

Adelino Yung, P.E. founds Biomechanical Research Institute, LLC in Houston, Texas — a forensic engineering firm built around independent testing rather than borrowed authority.

Research Years

BRi builds its evidence base: thousands of NHTSA and IIHS crash tests catalogued, NASS real-world investigations studied, SAE technical papers reviewed — and its own instrumented testing programs begun.

Human-Subject Testing

BRi conducts low-speed rear-end and frontal impact research with human volunteers, generating firsthand biomechanical data few private firms possess.

2025

Mr. Yung stands among only eight active Texas Professional Engineers holding branch designations in both biomedical and mechanical engineering — and holds P.E. licensure in California and Louisiana, NAFE board certification, and full ACTAR accreditation.

Today

BRi continues as a founder-led practice: research-driven analysis, calibrated instrumentation, and testimony prepared for the hardest questions the other side can ask.
